L-i-v-i-n'

You wake up.

Breath is moving. Body is here.

And right away, the mind starts stacking things. What needs to be done. What’s next. What didn’t go right.

Just like that… you’re gone.

Not here.

That’s how it slips. Not in big moments. In the small ones.

You’re sitting… but thinking ahead.
You’re eating… but somewhere else.
You’re talking… but not really there.

The day keeps moving without you.

Livin’ is catching that.

Bringing it back.

Sit when you sit.
Eat when you eat.
Be where you are.

Simple.

And still… we complicate it.

More rules.
More pressure.
More noise.

You end up managing life instead of living it.

Trying to keep up with your own day.

That’s when it feels off.

Not because something is wrong…

because you’re not in it.

Handle your responsibilities. Show up. Do what needs to get done.

And don’t miss everything in between.

Morning feels like morning.
Afternoon slows down.
Night comes when it comes.

Unless something real calls for you…

the rest of the day is yours.

From the moment you wake up
to the moment you close your eyes

That’s your life.

So yeah…

Just gotta be livin'

Hola Merly! Yes, that’s definitely part of it. Funny enough, I never really saw it as mindfulness, but I can completely see the connection now that you said it.
I think mindfulness is part of it. Almost like the awareness piece of it. Taking in the moment, your surroundings, your thoughts, your presence. But livin’ feels like the action part of that to me. Participating in it. Being inside the experience instead of just watching life pass by while the mind is somewhere else.

And yeah… as you well know, some of the moments where I’ve felt that the deepest were moments shared in presence, full heart, no rushing, no forcing, just being there for life while it was happening.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Sending you a hug 🤗

When I first heard you say livin’ I initially understood it as a state of being unbothered by circumstances, of having fun while we’re here and, to a certain extent, it is just that; but in a world where we’re constantly being rushed, meeting deadlines, dealing with conflicts, being compared, mourning our losses, etc., practicing mindfulness (a much more sober word 🤓 that’s how I learned it), is a habit that initially required my full commitment and discipline not easy because people like me, who grew up in dysfunctional homes, tend to react to situations, listen to elaborate defensive responses, foresee the worst possible scenarios, among other problematic behaviors… none of that is being present but it’s all we knew. Little did I know that over time, this approach to life could become my source of peace. After the storm I endured for weeks, the sun is shining again. Being present, as uncomfortable as it can sometimes be, has finally paid off. What a great gift to give ourselves and others!

Thank you for sharing this 🙏🏻 🫂
